The Landing - Minnesota River Heritage Park

Step back in time when you visit The Landing - Minnesota River Heritage Park (formerly Historic Murphy's Landing), part of the Three Rivers Park District. Located along the scenic Minnesota River, The Landing is a living history museum offering the opportunity to discover the charms and challenges of life in the 1800s.

History comes alive on summer weekends as costumed guides interpret life along the river from the voyageurs to the first settlers. Watch wool being spun into yarn. Discover how tools were forged in fire and pounded into shape on anvils. Experience the delight of a baseball game played the old-fashioned way. Smell the wood burning in the iron stoves. Wonder at all of the day-to-day activities. The journey will take you from rustic log cabins to a picturesque Victorian village. Explore and be amazed.

On December weekends, visitors can experience the magic and joy of 19th century Christmas and Hanukah celebrations during the 36th Annual Folkways of the Holidays. The journey begins with a horse-drawn trolley ride. Guests can tour holiday home settings, enjoy lively musical performances, and interact with costumed interpreters portraying settlers. Visitors will discover the meaning behind some of our most treasured holidays tradtions like the Christmas tree, sending Christmas cards, making lefse, and putting candles in windows. Folkways of the Holidays highlights the following 19th century holiday traditions: American, French-Canadian, German, Irish, Swedish, Norwegian, Czech, Moravian, Jewish, and Victorian,
