  • Chamber Committees Chamber Committees

As an active, problem solving organization, the strength of the Chamber lies in its membership: small businesses, large corporations, home-based businesses, and professional men and women, working together to enhance the business climate  in Shakopee.

Whatever your interest or talent, there's sure to be a committee that suits you!

Ambassadors are responsible for promoting a professional atmosphere in which to establish business contacts. Committee members serve as greeters at Chamber functions, welcome new members to the Chamber and encourage member participation through phone calls and personal contacts. They help introduce new members to Chamber activities by serving as "buddies" during a new member's first year.

GROW MN! Economic Development / Business Retention

Grow Minnesota! is Minnesota's first purely private sector, statewide business retention and expansion program. Its primary goal is to strengthen and grow Minnesota's economy

This committee Communicates regularly with Shakopee businesses and encourages them to grow here. We do this by conducting regular retention activities, including CEO-to-CEO visits and surveys. Company visits often reveal a need for assistance with business expansion, local or state government or the company’s general operations, and Grow Minnesota! representatives either provide that assistance directly or refer the company to the appropriate public or private sector organization. Visits are also used as an opportunity to collect feedback on public policy issues which is used to shape the local and state chamber’s public policy agendas.

    Public Policy

The mission of this group is to be a proactive voice on public policy issues that impact our members, to facilitate communication, to inform Chamber membership and to make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding adopting a position or taking action on those issues.

    Shakopee Young Professionals Board

Shakopee Young Professionals is a young professionals network that strives to attract, engage, empower and retain young talent in the Shakopee area. SYP captivates the young professional audience and initiates their involvement in the business community with professional development events, workshops, social networking and volunteer opportunities.

SYP hosts events monthly along with other added events throughout the year. These events allow the Shakopee area young professionals to network with one another and provide attendees with profressional and personal development tools.

This board is responsible for planning upcoming programming, recruiting and retaining members and promoting SYP to the community. This board helps prepare young professionals for sitting on boards and committees in the future.  They meet monthly from 7:30am - 8:30am at the Shakopee Chamber office.  To learn more or join this board, contact Abbie Siljendahl at 952.445.1660.
